Description
Yardworks Festival, the internationally-renowned festival of urban art, will return this year, to take over the SWG3 Galvanizers Yard on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May 2024.
Scotland's festival of graffiti and urban arts, Yardworks has grown to become one of Europe’s biggest and best celebrations of the extraordinary talent, skill and creativity to be found amongst the global and local graffiti communities. Across two days, the concrete playground that is our Galvanizers Yard becomes a mess of colour, creativity and collaboration as urban artists and punters from across the globe come together to paint, draw, inspire, educate – or just hang out and enjoy some street food in the sunshine.
Since our very first festival in 2017, the word has spread far and wide, with the festival now attracting the crème de la crème of the urban art and graffiti scene. For this year's festival, the line-up is set to be broader than ever before, with a variety of artists from across the globe heading to Glasgow for the weekend.
For local artists, it’s an opportunity for inspiration, and a chance to learn from the very best, by seeing what people are doing elsewhere. For the audience, it’s a weekend spectacle, where you can immerse yourself in the culture of urban art. Whether you want to relax and spectate, or whether you’re a bit more hands on – there’s plenty of options for both. With a variety of street food vendors and plenty of drink choices, various interactive workshops, wean-occupying expertly-crafted art activities, and much more, it truly is the festival for all.
For Glasgow, it’s a visual celebration of the city’s artistic ambition, its style, and the importance it places on nurturing - and sharing - the joy of creativity. Highlights from previous years include the graffiti maze (200 metres of super smooth concrete and steel!), Mia McGregor’s wildly popular Cubes installation (get the kids involved young), a talk from author, photographer and subway artist Martha Cooper, the commissioning of the huge, Classical-art-inspired mural by PichiAvo that you see today in our Galvanizers, and the opening of our purpose built Yardworks Studio in 2023, which serves as a creative hub for artists throughout the city.
