About
Henrik Springmann directs a gallery of contemporary art in Berlin. The gallery represents a selection of established, international artists. The gallery expresses its representation in the form of exhibitions, collaborations with institutions, maintaining public and private collections as well as participating in art fairs and through publications.
As a result of representing significant European artists (Günther Uecker/Rolf Schroeter, Balthasar Burkhard, Daniele Buetti) Henrik Springmann now concentrates his gallery work on collaborations with international artists living in or native to US America from the generation now in their 30's to mid 40's.
The goal of the gallery's work is to make the work of the artist known in German institutions and collections and to position them therein via Berlin. The cultural bridging between the USA and Europe is the focus hereby. The artists develop specific work for their presence and exhibitions in Berlin. The artistic confrontation is found in the aesthetic of their generation's Zeitgeist. They work on the socio-cultural phenomenon of their own environment, which they portray anew through their activity in Berlin creating pieces in this extended context.
